The unpredictability of the Alaska wilderness contributes to its beauty and majesty. One minute you’re sailing through the choppy waters looking at a driftwood-covered shore and a few seagulls, and the next you are greeting a mother bear and her cub.
The mother bear eyes you warily as you sail by, wondering if she will have to protect her cub from you and your boat. As she realizes you are passing, she brings her attention back to task at hand — salmon.
The boat continues on past the shore but, before you leave the scene completely, you see that she was triumphant. In Alaska, victory tastes like a fish dinner.
