Good times with good friends testing good products in our incredible backyard.

Patagonia, the outdoor clothing brand, recently released a drysuit that was built for kiting in cold water. They wanted to make sure this thing was everything they hoped. So they made the smart move and sent a crew north to prove the suit. I had the pleasure of showing them around some of our favorite haunts and photographing the action and lifestyle moments.

It was an action packed few days involving four kiting locations, two glacial lakes, one tidal bore wave, two Alaskan bushplanes, one motorhome. All possible with thanks to friends and resources gathered over a lifetime of adventuring in Alaska. There was a handful of life dreams checked off the list for the crew and I was able to send them home with a pretty diverse selection of images.

This type of project is something we’ve become pretty familiar with – brand approaches us looking to infuse a little of this ‘Alaska Magic’ into their marketing. We find it particularly rewarding to help a brand realize their grandest dreams. Alaska is the real show, we just know how to do the weather and logistics dance to get work done.  Small and flexible crews work best allowing us to adapt with the ever changing conditions and make the most of opportunities like flying in a seaplane out to a glacial lake for the day. (Thanks Jim!)

And if you really want to see a lot more you can check out the blurb book – Kiteboarding Alaska – I put together for the crew to remind them it wasn’t just a dream.
