Air to air photography is a favorite subject of mine and this was a great photo shoot of Mike McCann flying his classic 1933 Stinson JR. SR through the Kenai Mountains, Alaska in mid October. Thanks to Mark Munro and Mike Neese for making this photo shoot possible. Below area few more images of the Stinson from this flight.

Well, what can I say? My childhood buddy never ceases to amaze me. If you know Mike, you know a true pioneer. From humble and difficult beginnings, he’s succeeding in living his dream. Man, you are one incredible guy…time to write another book, buddy! After seeing these pics, I’ve got to head north for a visit. I guess I’ll have to wait until you return from Montana though. Oh yah, I forgot to mention the photos are truely fantastic. Great work!
Wow, I didn’t know that I was photographing a celebrity pilot! It’s been nice of all of you to stop by and leave comments, and thanks for your kind words about the images as well. Hopefully this won’t be the last time I get to photograph Mike and his airplanes.

Say hi to Mike for me. Haven’t talked to him in years, but he was a good friend of mine in college. Hope he doesn’t fly like he’s got two left feet. He’ll know what that means.
Nice photos! Mike didn’t know he would be a bush pilot when he first dragged a crashed yellow Gullwing Stinson out of the bushes, well the frozen tundra, and hauled it to Tanana on a dogsled in parts and pieces. Now he’s a world traveller, ace airplane mechanic, and a pretty fair pilot from what I hear. Pretty fair writer, too. When is he going to invite me out trout fishing?

My Dad, now 94, tells me that a Stinson Gullwing on floats was owned by a Dr. Libby of Tuftonboro, who kept it on a ramp near his locally well-known museum on Mirror Lake, New Hampshire.
